Ministry of Communications Tries to Reduce Media Frequency Tax or Collect Monthly

The leadership of the Afghan Independent Journalists Union of Afghanistan along with some provincial representatives in a meeting with Mawlawi Najibullah Haqqani, acting minister of telecommunications, congratulated the Hajj Baytullah Sharif and asked for a reduction in media tax frequency.

Hujatullah Mujdidi, head of the Afghan Independent Journalists Union and a number of provincial representatives welcomed the cooperation of the Ministry with the media and emphasized that the media are in poor economic condition, and it is necessary for the Ministry of Communications to cooperate with the media in the field of frequency taxation.

Meanwhile, Mawlawi Najibullah Haqqani, acting Minister of Telecommunications in the meeting, said that he would make efforts to reduce media frequency tax and added that “we are trying to turn media frequency into digital in the country so that media officials will always be free from paying taxes.” “In addition to efforts to reduce the media frequency tax، we will try to provide local media with a monthly payment of frequency tax if possible, to reduce the pressure of annual payments.”

Acting Minister of Telecommunications further emphasized that media play an important role in creating an atmosphere of unity and mutual acceptance among different ethnic groups and that serious efforts should be made in this regard.

On the other hand, the high cost of internet in the country was discussed and the acting Minister of Telecommunication assured the efforts of the department in this regard.
